Geosyntec Consultants in Charlotte, NC seeks an Experienced Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice. You will work in a hybrid schedule on projects involving landfills, coal combustion residuals, dams and levees, and mines while developing business skills for a successful consulting career.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical engineering, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills are required.
• Travel to client facilities is required.

Responsibilities

• Civil design, landfill design, and site layout.
• Geotechnical analyses including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage.
• Geotechnical and environmental site characterization.
• Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems.
• Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, specs, and permit applications.
• Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Civil design, landfill design, and site layout;
• Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
• Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
• Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems;
• Small project/task management and proposal preparation support;
• Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
• Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
• Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
  

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
• Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
• Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

• At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
• Experience with modeling/design tools such as AutoCAD, ArcMap, SLIDE, FLAC, PLAXIS. (preferred)
• Field work and overnight travel may be required.
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
• Ability to travel to client facilities. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
