Job description

D. G. Granade, Inc. is looking to hire two experienced carpenters to work out of our Shingle Springs shop fabricating wood deck assemblies for a current construction project.

This is not an entry-level carpenter or construction laborer position. We are looking for experienced carpenters who know their trade and can take a set of plans, lay out the work, make accurate cuts, and build complete assemblies correctly with minimal supervision.

This is a non-union, shop-based position paid in line with skill and effort. This is not a prevailing-wage position.

The Work:

The primary scope will be fabrication of wood-framed deck assemblies in our shop for delivery and installation at the project site.

Responsibilities include:
  • Read and understand construction plans and details.
  • Independently lay out deck framing and components.
  • Lay out and cut stair stringers where required.
  • Accurately cut and assemble dimensional lumber.
  • Build framing square, level, and to the dimensions shown.
  • Install decking and associated components.
  • Identify and work through typical carpentry layout and fabrication issues.
  • Safely and proficiently operate saws, drills, impact drivers, and other carpentry tools.
  • Maintain consistent quality while working efficiently.
  • Coordinate with our superintendent and other DGG personnel.
Who We're Looking For:

Qualified applicants should have several years of hands‑on carpentry experience and be comfortable working independently from plans and dimensions.

You should be able to:
  • Read a tape accurately without thinking twice about it.
  • Read and work from construction drawings.
  • Perform framing and stair layout.
  • Make accurate, repeatable cuts.
  • Check your own dimensions and layout before assembling.
  • Build square and consistently produce quality work.
  • Recognize when something doesn't look right and address it before proceeding.
  • Work productively without requiring constant direction.
  • Safely operate common carpentry tools and equipment.

Commercial construction and framing experience is strongly preferred.

We aren't looking for someone who has simply worked around construction. We need experienced carpenters who understand layout, framing, and proper construction practices and take pride in the finished product.

Position:
  • Shop-based work in Shingle Springs, CA.
  • Full-time.
  • Immediate start available.
  • Two positions available.
