Job summary

Home Instead Ames is seeking an experienced caregiver for part-time daytime hours across Ames & Boone, Iowa. You will provide hands-on personal care, maintain dignity and safety, and help older adults stay safe, independent, and engaged.

We offer a starting wage of $17 per hour, weekend shift premium, paid orientation and training, vacation pay, health insurance, 401(k) with company match, opportunities for additional hours, and 24/7 on-call support.

Qualifications

At Home Instead, we're looking for compassionate, dependable caregivers with personal care experience to help older adults remain safe, independent, and engaged in the lives they love.

Flexible Day & Weekend Hours

We're hiring for part-time daytime availability, including:

• Mornings: 8 AM - 12 PM
• Afternoons: 1 PM - 5 PM
• Weekend daytime visits (weekend premium included!)

Available mornings, afternoons, weekends—or a combination? We'll work with you to build a schedule around your availability.

What You'll Do

This role goes beyond companionship. Depending on the client's care plan, you'll provide:

• Hands-on personal care, including bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting-related assistance
• Mobility support and help safely navigating the home
• Meal preparation and light housekeeping
• Transportation to appointments or errands
• Companionship and meaningful engagement
• Clear communication about changes or concerns

Throughout each visit, you'll help clients do as much as they safely can for themselves while stepping in confidently when support is needed.

You May Be a Great Fit If You:

• Have previous caregiving experience that includes hands-on personal care
• Are comfortable with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting-related needs, and mobility support
• Understand how to protect a client's dignity and independence while providing personal care
• Are dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working independently
• Communicate clearly and follow a care plan
• Have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
