Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Sonographer to perform cardiac ultrasound studies and related vascular imaging for diverse patient populations. Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology or related field within 3 months of hire, OR Completion of a twelve (12) month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
• Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• One year minimum experience in acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Pre/post-procedure patient care including CPR; assist with post-procedure transport.
• Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance daily; report issues.
• Generate ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures; perform advanced studies.
• Perform vascular studies and real-time readings in the operating room.
• Perform studies for neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients.
• May train staff; serve as SME to Cardiovascular Sonographers.
• Monitor and record patient data; manage reports and data systems.
• Prepare procedure room and equipment; ensure timely setup between procedures.
• Respond to on-call needs for emergent procedures.
• Attend weekly department educational conferences.
• Communicate urgent findings to Cardiologist.
