Our Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll create beautiful edible art for our guests, making their celebrations special. Your primary responsibility will be preparing and decorating products and cakes to ensure only the freshest items are available. Job Description
- Experience Required: Completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
- Education Desired: No High School diploma required
- Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
- Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age
Job Responsibilities
- Fill tables and cases with cakes, transporting products from the prep area to the sales area.
- Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
- Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
- Take special orders via phone and in person.
- Check sales area for product freshness and quality, including dates and condition.
- Record daily known losses.
- Prioritize safety for team members, guests, and products in all tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests and assisting them in locating products, answering questions, and offering suggestions.
- Inspire team members and guests with a passion for food and a commitment to excellence.
- Handle products and equipment following food safety and safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, utensils, and work areas to meet sanitation standards.
- Prepare and decorate cakes and products for display, ensuring proper rotation and freshness.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures, including proper lifting and housekeeping.
- Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Follow department procedures, including product rotation, order taking, and understanding copyright policies.
- Stay updated on new products and procedures, including product info, special orders, cake decorating, and seasonal items.
- Ice and decorate cakes using icing and decorating tools.
- Prepare icing and decorating products by reading recipes and measuring ingredients.
- Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
- Operate department equipment such as mixers, scales, airbrush guns, and knives.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
