Job summary

W-L Construction & Paving, a CRH company, in Chilhowie, VA, seeks a Paving Roller Operator to compact asphalt on highways, private roads, parking lots and driveways. Operate steel drum and pneumatic rollers to ensure density and surface quality.

Starting pay ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience. Shifts are typically 8–12 hours with overtime; outdoor work in varying weather; occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous asphalt paving roller operation experience required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town when required.
• Flexible to accommodate extended shifts (8–12 hours) with overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate paving roller equipment safely and efficiently during asphalt paving operations.
• Achieve specified compaction and surface quality standards on asphalt projects.
• Work closely with paving crew and follow Foreman directions to meet production goals.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Assist with other paving and labor duties as needed to support project completion.
