Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top at The Dale in Avondale Estates is hiring friendly Hosts. You’ll greet guests, manage reservations and waitlists, and help create a smooth transition to seating in a warm, welcoming environment.

Experience in hospitality and strong communication are essential. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required; we offer competitive hourly pay and dining benefits within a team-oriented setting.

• Manage reservations and waitlist using Toast Tables and procedures.
• Confirm party sizes and seating preferences.
• Provide wait estimates and updates to waiting guests.
• Follow seating rotation and seek manager direction for adjustments.
• Monitor table availability and coordinate with servers and managers.
• Escort guests to tables, provide menus, and transition to service.
• Adhere to reservation policies and full-party seating rules.
• Coordinate large-party seating and private events with management.
• Direct private event inquiries to the appropriate contact.
• Explain 21-and-over policy courteously.
• Answer phone calls professionally with accurate information.
• Maintain knowledge of menus, hours, features, and events.
• Keep host stand and waiting areas clean and organized.
• Assist with table resets and communicate cleaning needs.
• Thank departing guests and invite return.
• Share guest concerns with management promptly.
• Complete opening, running, and closing duties.
• Roll silverware as directed; complete daily cleaning.

Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top are now open at The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we’re looking for friendly, dependable, and organized Hosts to help make every guest feel welcome.

Ophelia Tavern is a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food in a welcoming, no-fuss atmosphere. Our menu features pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, thoughtfully prepared entrées, sandwiches, salads, and small plates made for sharing. Inviting indoor and patio seating complement handcrafted cocktails, a whiskey-forward bar program, and a well-rounded selection of beer and wine.

Located upstairs, Bar Top is a 21-and-over rooftop bar featuring a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green at The Dale, along with a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space.

As a Host, you help set the tone for the entire guest experience. From the first greeting to the final goodbye, your warmth, communication, and attention to detail help guests feel cared for and keep service organized. We’re looking for people who enjoy connecting with others, remain composed during busy periods, and take pride in supporting their team.

What We’re Looking For

Position Responsibilities

• Greet arriving guests promptly with a warm, friendly welcome
• Manage reservations and the waitlist using Toast Tables and company procedures
• Confirm party sizes, guest information, and seating preferences accurately
• Provide realistic wait estimates and communicate updates to waiting guests
• Follow the established seating rotation and seek manager direction before making adjustments
• Monitor table availability and communicate with servers, server assistants, and managers
• Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and help create a smooth transition to service
• Follow reservation policies, including full-party seating requirements and the reservation grace period
• Coordinate large-party seating and special requests with management
• Direct private event inquiries to the appropriate contact
• Explain Bar Top’s first-come, first-served seating and 21-and-over policy courteously
• Answer phone calls professionally and provide accurate restaurant information
• Maintain current knowledge of menus, restaurant hours, daily features, and special events
• Keep the host stand, entrance, menus, and waiting areas clean and organized
• Assist with table resets and communicate cleaning needs to the service team
• Thank departing guests and invite them to return
• Communicate guest concerns promptly to management
• Complete opening, running, and closing duties
• Help roll silverware as needed or as directed by management
• Complete assigned daily cleaning duties and support the team throughout service

Schedule & Availability

Applicants should have flexible availability to support restaurant service, weekend business, and private events. Specific shifts and reporting times will be discussed during the interview process.
