Job summary

MassMutual seeks a Director of Expense Accounting to lead the Corporate Expense Team in Springfield, MA. You will oversee the expense accounting function, ensuring accurate month-end close, strong internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in accounting/finance or related field.
• 8+ years accounting experience in large complex environment.
• 2+ years in people leadership or equivalent demonstrated informal leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly expense close, manage calendars, deliverables, and deadlines.
• Oversee journal entries for accruals, prepaids, allocations, and reclassifications.
• Ensure internal controls and SOX/ICFR alignment; partner with auditors.
• Oversee subsidiary and intercompany expense accounting; ensure reporting accuracy.
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and capital project capitalization.
• Oversee lease accounting and related disclosures; ensure compliance.
• Develop and coach blended onshore/offshore team; drive automation using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL; manage SAP migration.
• Drive process improvement and governance across expense accounting.
