Job summary

Schuff Steel in Eloy, AZ is seeking a Material Expeditor to receive, expedite, and coordinate steel from receiving through the cutting stage on a busy shop floor.

You will work with cranes, rigging and forklifts to move steel, direct production flow, and ensure safety and quality across the process. We support growth, professional development and comprehensive health insurance benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and/or 12 months of related experience.
• Knowledge of cranes, rigging and forklifts used in steel handling.
• Ability to read safety rules and operation manuals; basic math and reasoning skills.
• No certificates required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate locations of materials to be unloaded.
• Check incoming steel per procedures for accuracy.
• Direct and assist others in material control and handling.
• Move materials using overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
• Maintain organized, clean work area and follow safety rules.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordinates locations of materials to be unloaded.
• Check incoming steel in accordance with receiving procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Directs and assists other employees as required in all phases of material control and handling.
• Move materials and assign locations utilizing overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Keeps work area organized and clean.
• Must adhere to and follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Education/Training - Work Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of directly related and stable work experience.

Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses

• Equipment Knowledge & Skills – may include but not limited to cranes and rigging, forklifts.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
