Job summary

The Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the Special Needs Clinic and general patient care. This role involves assisting dentists, preparing instruments, and ensuring patient comfort during procedures.

Responsibilities include taking impressions, mounting x-rays, fabricating temporary restorations, and maintaining sterilization standards while teaching students through expanded functions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program.
• Indiana X-Ray license required by date of hire.
• Expanded Functions Dental Assisting license required by date of hire.
• Dental Assistant certification required by date of hire.
• DAANCE certification required by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Take impressions and bite registrations.
• Take, develop and mount x-rays and instruct students on taking x-rays.
• Fit preliminary crowns, create temporary restorations and place temporary materials.
• Fabricate temporary crowns and adjust/cement as needed.
• Place and remove matrix retainers for restorations.
• Place resin and amalgam restorations and finish/polish.
• Sit chair side to pass instruments and support direct patient care.
• Ensure sterilization of instruments and organize them for procedures.
