Job summary

Aspen Dental in Destin, FL is hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. You will perform daily duties to help create lasting impressions and build trust with patients while supporting the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.

You will assist doctors during treatments, manage operatory setup and sterilization, take radiographs, educate patients on oral care, and help train others while upholding OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant license/registration as required by state.
• Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state.
• Current CPR or BLS certificate.
• 2+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry.
• Demonstrate sterilization and infection control techniques.
• Maintain annual CE requirements as specified by state.
• State certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
• Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory; ensure staff are trained and compliant.
• Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, suction lines, waterline testing, autoclave, and compressor.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow.
• Follow OSHA regulations and Aspen safety requirements, including HIPAA compliance.
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Provide patients with instructions for oral care following treatment.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain health.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns as needed.
• Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform quality intraoral health scans under 5 minutes.
• Understand clear aligner processes and be able to teach.
• Take quality impressions and bite registrations.
• Perform expanded functions based on certification(s).
• Ensure emergency kits and oxygen tanks are maintained.
• Order and maintain supplies per practice budget.
• Perform various office tasks as necessary.
