Job summary

Carolina Smiles Family Dentistry is seeking an enthusiastic EFDA-certified Dental Assistant to join our busy, patient-centered team. The role supports four-handed dentistry, radiography, sterilization, and infection control while delivering compassionate care.

Qualifications

• EFDA certification is required and must be current.
• N₂O certification is required to administer sedation.
• At least 1 year of dental assisting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control.
• Excellent patient communication and care skills.
• Reliable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinic.
• Positive, team-first attitude; bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, prepare, and care for patients during visits.
• Assist dentist with 4-handed dentistry and expanded functions.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment.
• Take and develop dental radiographs as allowed by certification.
• Perform expanded-function duties within scope of practice.
• Monitor and assist with N₂O sedation.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection-control standards.
• Provide post-op instructions and reassure patients about care.
• Keep operatories clean, organized, and stocked.
• Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
• Support the team with lab work and other clinical tasks.

Carolina Smiles is looking for an enthusiastic, patient-focused Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team! We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in great dentistry, and can keep up in a busy, fun office.

EFDA Certification and N₂O certification are required. We’re open to all experience levels, but 1+ year of dental assisting experience is preferred.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• N₂O certification — required
• Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification — required
• 1+ year of dental assisting experience preferred, but all experience levels are welcome to apply
• Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, sterilization, and infection control
• Excellent communication and patient-care skills
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• A positive, team-first attitude
• Experience with Eaglesoft is a plus
• Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required
