Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant to support chairside care, restorations, radiography, and infection control for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will educate patients and help improve oral health outcomes while maintaining culturally respectful care.

Requirements include radiography certification and completion of a dental assistant program with imaging coursework. U.S.

Qualifications

• GS-05 requires 1 year of specialized experience or education as dental assistant.
• Must have completed a 4-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program with radiation coursework.
• Combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation and provides chairside assistance.
• Anticipates dentist's needs for instruments and materials.
• Performs intra-oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, restorations.
• Performs radiographs and dental lab tasks including model work and impressions.
• Gathers patients, maintains treatment and appointment records.
