Job summary

Indian Health Service seeks an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant to support chairside duties, restorations, radiography, and patient education, delivering culturally respectful care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Candidates will perform radiographic procedures, assist dentists, and maintain detailed treatment records while ensuring infection control standards and safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• Experience in chairside assistance, restorations, prophylaxis, sealants, radiographs, and infection control.
• Resume must clearly identify duties, responsibilities, and total hours per week.
• Education or experience to meet GS-05/GS-06 qualification requirements per federal standards.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation and supports restorative procedures.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs; prepares materials.
• Performs intra‑oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, temporary fillings, stainless steel crowns.
• Performs radiographic procedures and dental lab tasks: models, trays, bite rims, casts.
• Receives patients and maintains records of appointments, examinations, treatment and supplies.
