Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant in Oregon to deliver culturally respectful, high-quality care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will work chairside with the dentist, perform radiography, infection control, and patient education to improve oral health outcomes.

This role requires radiology certification, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to manage patient records and treatment logistics.

Qualifications

• 1 year of specialized experience at GS-04 level performing chairside and restorations.
• Education: 4-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program with 24 hours of radiation physics.
• Combination of education and experience acceptable.
• For GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience in advanced duties such as restorative functions and x-rays.
• Must have radiographic health and safety certification.
• Resume must show duties, responsibilities and hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs.
• Performs intra-oral procedures: prophylaxis, sealants, removing temporary fillings, and cements.
• Performs radiological procedures and dental lab work: pours models, fabricates trays, mounts casts, and pours impressions.
• Receives and prepares patients and maintains records of appointments, examinations, and treatments.
