Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant to support chairside care, radiography, infection control, and patient education for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

You will assist dentists, perform intra-oral procedures, manage materials and equipment, and help maintain accurate treatment records while delivering culturally respectful care.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience: 1 year at GS-04 level in chairside assistance, restorations, prophylaxis, radiographs, infection control.
• Education: full 4-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program with 24 semester hours in radiation physics.
• Combination of Education and Experience: meets 100% of qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs.
• Performs intra-oral procedures: prophylaxis, sealants, temporary fillings, crowns.
• Radiographic procedures and dental lab tasks: casts, trays, bite rims, articulator mounts.
• Receives patients and maintains treatment records.
