Job summary

Barnard College's Milstein Center invites applications for the Graduate Assistant–Access, Engagement, and Exhibitions. This part-time, hourly position supports exhibitions projects, access to Library and Archives collections, and the design of a digital exhibition catalog within the Access, Engagement, and Exhibitions team.

The GA collaborates with the Director, participates in planning meetings with exhibiting artists, designs exhibition plans and outreach materials, develops projects on

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a graduate program is required.
  • Commitment to Aug through June with ~10 hours/week.
  • Experience in exhibitions and art display is preferred.
  • Graphic design and HTML/CSS skills are desirable.
  • Interest in libraries and archives and related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Attend planning meetings with exhibiting artists.
  • Design exhibition plans, proposals, and outreach materials.
  • Develop, edit, and troubleshoot projects on Manifold.org.
  • Act as core member of installation/de-installation teams.
  • Physically monitor and maintain exhibitions.
  • Participate in public events, such as tours and workshops.
  • Staff library circulation desk and Archives reading room as needed.
