Exhibit Manager - The Great Elephant Migration

Job Overview:

The Great Elephant Migration (GEM) is a global fundraising adventure aiming to spread the powerful message of coexistence across the United States, while promoting indigenous-based conservation practices. The herd, consisting of 100 life-sized lantana camara elephant sculptures, will be in Los Angeles from July to early August. GEM is seeking to hire an Exhibition & Volunteer Manager for this period.

Job Duration:

July – August (one month)

Job Considerations:

  • Independent tracking of working hours
  • No insurance coverage or benefits provided
  • Pay: $20/hour, capped at 40 hours/week

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support volunteer steward team during shifts
  • Recruit volunteers through database work and communication
  • Manage volunteer check-in/check-out via Vome software

Visitor Experience:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries and concerns
  • Provide information about the exhibition, sculpture sales, and GEM’s mission
  • Troubleshoot GEM app issues and promote app sign-ups
  • Encourage visitors to explore the information and merchandise tent

Logistics & Operations:

  • Coordinate with GEM team for overall exhibit management
  • Handle onsite issues and complete incident reports
  • Attend team briefings
  • Assist with elephant sculpture care and restoration
