About Health Link-Society (HLS):

Health-Link Society (HLS) was launched in 2020 amidst the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic by Zakaria Alyan and Shakibur Rahman, two visionary undergraduate students at Temple University. Their mission was to build a diverse and inclusive community of students with a passion for philanthropy and a keen interest in healthcare careers. Recognizing the lack of volunteering opportunities and the diminishing sense of community among students due to the pandemic, they swiftly acted to bridge this gap, fostering meaningful engagements between aspiring healthcare professionals and their local communities for mutual growth. Today, HLS operates chapters across the U.S. and Canada and continues to grow its impact through education, service, and empowerment.

Role Overview:

The Treasurer is a volunteer leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial health, compliance, and sustainability of Health-Link Society. The Treasurer will play a critical role in budgeting, financial reporting, and internal oversight, while also leading grant writing efforts and identifying funding opportunities to support the organization’s national growth.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about social impact, financial strategy, and nonprofit development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage HLS’s annual operating budget and financial roadmap.
• Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to the Board of Directors.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, policies, and best practices.
• Oversee internal controls, audits, and financial risk management procedures.
• Manage cash flow, fund allocation, and long-term financial planning.
• Research, identify, and apply for grants, including drafting compelling proposals and maintaining reporting requirements.
• Support financial growth strategy, including fundraising and donor development initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership and chapter teams to support financially responsible programming and expansion

Qualifications

• Proven experience in financial management, preferably within a nonprofit or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent grant writing or fundraising experience is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in financial software and databases (QuickBooks, Excel, or similar tools).
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
• Deep commitment to HLS's core values and mission, with a passion for positively impacting communities.
• Ability to work independently and flexibly, adapting to the evolving needs of the organization.
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements affecting nonprofit finance.
