Job summary

Thanksgiving Point invites an Exhibit Designer to craft immersive exhibit experiences across our venues, including the Museum of Natural Curiosity and the Butterfly Biosphere. You will collaborate with the Senior Director of assigned venues to shape content, provide design direction, and contribute to team success.

Qualifications

• Experience with human-centered design for public engagement in a museum or informal learning environment.
• Solid understanding of exhibit interpretation, design process, development, copywriting, and safety guidelines.
• Leadership experience is a plus.
• 3D modeling in Rhino is a plus.
• Proficiency with Adobe Suite; Figma is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create immersive exhibit experiences at the Museum of Natural Curiosity, Butterfly Biosphere, Museum of Ancient Life, and Curiosity Farms.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director of assigned Venues and contribute to the Exhibits Team.
• Design and develop content for big events like Tulip Festival, Luminaria, and Dino Days.
• Maintain exhibit content and assist with production and maintenance as needed.

Shift: Full time. Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Create opportunities for fun, immersive exhibit experiences at the Museum of Natural Curiosity, Butterfly Biosphere, the Museum of Ancient Life, and Curiosity Farms.
• Collaborate with and take direction from the Senior Director of assigned Venues.
• Take part in the overall success of the Exhibits Team, our venues, and Thanksgiving Point as a whole.
• Contribute to the design, interpretation, development and creation of cool things, like oversized games and backdrops, for big events such as Tulip Festival, Luminaria, and Dino Days.
• Act as a custodian of exhibit content and story throughout the design process.
• Assist with exhibit production and maintenance as needed.
• Define core concepts and ideas during exhibit development.
• Help team members with other exhibit tasks.
• Professional, courteous and understanding in nature.
• Exemplify Thanksgiving Point’s Mission, Values and Policies.
• Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Requirements

• Know, understand, and have experience with human-centered design or similar methods of developing immersive content for public engagement in a museum or informal learning environment.
• Have a solid understanding of best practices in exhibit interpretation, exhibit design process, exhibit development, design research and copywriting, and safety guidelines.
• Leadership experience a plus.
• 3D modeling skills such as Rhino a plus.
• Adobe Suite (Figma a plus).
• Organized, reliable, punctual, flexible, and great communication skills.
• Computer skills.
• Physical abilities will need to include standing, bending, lifting, twisting, manipulating small objects.
• Pass a background check
• Be at least 21 years old.
