Job summary

Columbia International University in Columbia, SC, seeks an Exercise Science faculty member to direct the program and teach lecture and lab courses including biomechanics, exercise physiology, testing and prescription. The candidate will advise majors and collaborate on program development, with a teaching load of 24 semester hours annually.

The successful candidate must support the Evangelical Christian mission and may supervise undergraduate research.

Qualifications

• Instruct and advise exercise science and health sciences majors; collaborate on goals, program development and activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for exercise science & kinesiology, health science majors and general education core
• Teach up to eight (8) college level courses per year (24 semester hours) of exercise science lecture and laboratory courses, depending on background
• Advise students within the exercise science as needed
• Interact with prospective students as needed
• Endorse and model professional standards and proficiencies
• Serve on committees as assigned within the university
• Assist regularly with assessment of CIU’s science curriculum
• Participate in faculty meetings at the college and university level; attend other appropriate events including chapel, conferences, and student events
• Yearly affirm the institution’s mission, doctrinal position, community standards, and CIU’s position on human origins (Faculty Guide)

Job description

Exercise Science faculty position to direct the program and teach exercise science lecture and lab courses including biomechanics, exercise physiology, exercise testing & prescription and related courses. Ability to supervise undergraduate research preferred. The successful candidate must be able to advance the Evangelical Christian mission of the institution. Teaching load is 24 semester hours annually.
