Xavier University in Cincinnati invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Exercise Science beginning in Fall 2027. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science, Health Science and Wellness, Sport Management/Marketing, and master's degrees in Athletic Training and Sport Administration.

The laboratory houses state-of-the-art equipment used for teaching and research.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Science, or related field.
• ABD applicants will be considered but must complete all requirements for their doctoral degree by August 2027.
• Preference will be given to candidates with NSCA and/or ACSM certification(s).
• To be considered for the associate professor position, candidates must have a minimum of five years teaching experience at an accredited college or university and a clearly defined record of scholarship and publications.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses within the Exercise Science curriculum (e.g., Introduction to Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Lab, Nutrition for Sport & Exercise, Exercise Training Principles, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Biomechanics, Sports Psychology, Research Methods, Sport Science, Cardiopulmonary Testing and Prescription, Fitness in Special Populations).
• Maintain an active teaching load of 18 credit hours annually while meeting scholarship standards.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship and publications.
• Advise and mentor students regarding academic planning, professional development, and career opportunities.
• Participate in program, school, college, and university service activities.

Assistant/Associate Professor, Exercise Science

The Exercise Science program, located in the School of Sport Science and Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Exercise Science beginning in Fall 2027. The School of Sport Science & Management offers undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science, Health Science and Wellness, Sport Management/Marketing, as well as master's degrees in Athletic Training, and Sport Administration.

The Exercise Science program’s teaching and research laboratory is housed in the Health United Building, a state-of-the-art facility that was designed as an national model of excellence for collegiate academic, health, wellness, and recreational services. Some equipment that is available for teaching and research in the exercise science laboratory include: COSMED K5 portable metabolic system, ActiGraph wGT3X-BT accelerometers, activPAL4 activity monitors (to measure sitting, standing, and stepping behavior), Fibion Research triaxial accelerometers, Meta Quest 3: Next-Gen Mixed Reality Headset, Polar heart rate monitors, Bod Pod, Functional Movement Screening (FMS) and BlazePod Trainer kits, Quark T12x Diagnostic grade 12-Lead Wireless ECG, SunTech Tango M2 Exercise and Stress Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor, Omron HEM-907XL Professional Blood Pressure Machine, MOXY Muscle Oxygen Monitor, MicroQuark spirometer, NovaBiomedical Lactate Plus blood lactate meters, Lange skin fold calipers, Cybex isokinetic dynamometer, hand grip dynamometers, Trackmaster TMX428 treadmills, and Velotron and Monark cycle ergometers.

Qualifications

Position

Nine-month contract with the potential for summer teaching opportunities.

Salary/Rank

Assistant/Associate Professor with salary commensurate to qualifications and experience.

• Participating in program, school, college, and university service activities.
