Assistant Teaching Professor, Clinical Exercise Physiologist
The Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University (https://hhd.psu.edu/kines) seeks a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in clinical exercise physiology. The position begins in Fall 2025 and is a 36-week, full-time, non-tenure track, Fixed-Term I faculty appointment, with potential for reappointment.
Candidates should have at least one year of teaching experience, with preferred expertise in exercise physiology, exercise prescription, exercise testing, physical activity promotion, fitness and wellness testing, program management, and electrocardiogram interpretation. An earned doctorate in Kinesiology or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities include managing the Center for Fitness and Wellness (CFW), supervising student interns, and coordinating outreach activities like the Exercise is Medicine – On Campus initiative. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with a multidisciplinary faculty team focused on human movement and physical activity, with a preference for candidates interested in lifespan development perspectives.
Required skills include computer proficiency, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to mentor undergraduate students. Experience with online learning is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience, with opportunities for summer teaching to augment income.
