Job description

Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Diagnostics

Under the supervision of the Exercise Specialist Team Leader, the Exercise Physiologist is responsible for patient care in all areas of Graded Exercise Stress Testing/EKG tracings and EECP Therapy.

This job description covers the minimum essential duties assigned regularly. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership reserves the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

• Perform Graded Exercise Testing (Treadmills, Myocardial Perfusion studies including Pharmacological studies): attach tracers, instruct patients, operate equipment, produce accurate tracings, recognize problems, notify physicians, obtain patient history, explain procedures and safety issues, follow radionuclide and pharmacological monitoring procedures, measure parameters, handle paperwork, interpret ECGs, and communicate findings to physicians.
• Facilitate emergency responses, including CPR/ACLS, notify emergency services, prepare equipment, assist physicians, and record ECG tracings as needed.
• Complete GEMMS/Heart Centrix documentation within the EMR system.
• Perform EECP therapy: monitor, motivate, and educate end-stage cardiac patients during their treatment course.
• Perform Holter monitoring services as needed.
• Perform related duties such as ordering supplies, checking emergency equipment, transporting patients, cleaning rooms, and shift rotations.

Additional projects may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Certifications: BCLS, ACLS (ACLS may be obtained within one year of employment)

Work Experience: Completion of a 4-6 month internship in preventative, diagnostic, and rehabilitative cardiology; EMR systems experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related health field; completion of an Advanced Arrhythmia/12-lead EKG interpretation course.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of computer systems and applications; ability to use a keyboard; knowledge of EECP Therapy preferred.
