University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust covers a large geographic area, including the Furness peninsula, the city of Lancaster, and the Lake District. Clinical Investigation Services are provided on three sites: Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital, and Westmorland General Hospital. The post will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary site.

We are seeking a motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly, committed team in clinical investigations.

The Clinical Investigation Unit offers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive services. We have a dedicated Cardiac Centre at Westmorland, providing Angiography, Pacing, CRT services, and the introduction of Dobutamine Stress Echo.

Applicants must possess BSE accreditation, demonstrate proof of continued professional development, and have excellent communication and customer care skills. A willingness to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Main duties of the job

• Work effectively and efficiently as part of the Clinical Investigations team to provide high-quality patient care.
• Undertake, supervise, and perform at a highly specialist level in Echocardiography.
• Provide a broad range of complex non-invasive clinical physiological procedures to inform diagnosis, advise clinicians, interpret results, and produce reports (e.g., Echocardiograms). Maintain existing skills as required.

About us

Our services operate across three main hospitals—FGH, RLI, and WGH—and include community health care premises such as Millom, GP practices, QVC, and Ulverston Health Centre.

FGH and RLI offer general hospital services, including emergency care, critical/coronary units, and various consultant-led services.

WGH provides general hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions like broken bones and minor illnesses.

All hospitals provide planned care, outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day cases, and inpatient surgery. We also deliver outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are delivered in homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices, and hospitals, aiming to help individuals remain independent, improve their health, and manage conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.

Person Specification

• BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
• BSE accredited
• Evidence of maintaining relevant Continuing Professional Development
• Appropriate and relevant post-degree clinical experience
• Highly developed specialist knowledge acquired through training as a Clinical Physiologist
• Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills in English in various settings
• Experience of working within a team
• HPC/RCCP Registration
• ILS certification
• Working knowledge of Lorenzo and MediConnect
