Job summary

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC seeks a Vice President to lead the Economic Security and Technology Department. Qualifications

  • Senior thought leader in economic security, U.S.–China technology competition, or economic statecraft.
  • 15+ years across government, industry, finance, or think tanks with depth in economics, technology, or national security.
  • Experience designing and standing up new programs, initiatives, or platforms from concept to execution.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills with a track record of publications and policy impact.
  • Active network among U.S. policy officials and international business/finance communities.
  • Confident, persuasive, public-facing leadership with representative capabilities.
  • Entrepreneurial with fundraising appetite and ability to build new initiatives.
  • Proven people leadership: mentoring talent and building positive team culture.
  • Transparent, high-integrity leader able to represent CSIS externally.
  • Ideal: experience securing funding.

Responsibilities

  • Originate and lead cross-program research projects strengthening EST's initiatives.
  • Design, launch, and manage new programs, platforms, and capabilities end-to-end with budgets and success metrics.
  • Represent EST among CSIS-wide initiatives and in external engagements.
  • Lead fundraising and donor management to support EST Front Office and department goals.
  • Mentor scholars and foster collaboration across EST and CSIS.
