Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Executive Vice President of M&A Strategy & Integration to lead strategic advisory services for healthcare organizations navigating mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, divestitures, and enterprise integrations.
This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare executives, helping organizations define M&A strategies, integration methodologies, governance models, and repeatable playbooks that translate transaction objectives into executable plans. The role requires deep Epic expertise combined with broad familiarity across the enterprise, including ERP, HR and workforce, revenue cycle, data and analytics, infrastructure, cybersecurity, change management, and organizational readiness.
The ideal candidate brings significant healthcare M&A and integration experience, strong executive presence, and the ability to connect clinical, operational, financial, organizational, and technology considerations into a cohesive integration strategy. This leader will also provide executive leadership for Optimum’s growing M&A practice, strengthening and scaling our methodologies, solutions, and market approach.
Key Responsibilities
Client Strategy & Executive Advisory
- Serve as a strategic advisor to healthcare executives navigating mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, divestitures, and complex integrations.
- Lead discovery and strategy sessions to understand transaction objectives, organizational priorities, integration challenges, and future-state goals.
- Translate transaction strategy into actionable integration roadmaps, governance structures, decision frameworks, sequencing, and execution plans.
- Help clients develop repeatable M&A playbooks and methodologies that improve consistency, speed, and effectiveness across future transactions.
- Lead integration strategy across pre-close planning, Day 1 readiness, implementation, stabilization, and transition to operations.
- Establish approaches for governance, workstream management, decision rights, dependency management, risk management, executive reporting, and organizational readiness.
- Advise across major integration domains including Epic and clinical systems, ERP and finance, HR and workforce, revenue cycle, data and analytics, infrastructure, cybersecurity, application rationalization, change management, training, and vendor strategy.
- Help organizations balance standardization, speed, cost, operational disruption, and long-term strategic objectives.
Epic & Enterprise Technology Leadership
- Provide deep expertise related to Epic within healthcare M&A, including instance strategy, consolidation, migration, Community Connect, application rationalization, interoperability, data migration, and implementation sequencing.
- Connect Epic decisions to broader operational, financial, workforce, technology, and organizational implications.
- Identify dependencies across enterprise systems and functional areas and bring together the appropriate subject matter expertise to support integrated decision-making.
- Provide executive leadership for Optimum’s growing healthcare M&A advisory and integration practice.
- Strengthen and scale Optimum’s M&A methodologies, playbooks, tools, accelerators, assessment frameworks, and delivery approaches.
- Partner across Optimum service lines to bring together capabilities spanning EHR, ERP, cloud, infrastructure, data, AI, ServiceNow, organizational change, and other areas relevant to M&A.
- Identify evolving client needs and market trends to enhance M&A offerings, thought leadership, and differentiated solutions.
- Develop and mentor leaders and consultants supporting M&A engagements.
Solution Development & Client Growth
- Partner with sales, account, and delivery leadership to shape M&A solutions, engagement models, and long-term client strategies.
- Lead executive discovery, solution development, proposals, presentations, and strategic client discussions.
- Define engagement scope, leadership structures, deliverables, timelines, and required capabilities.
- Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to support organizations throughout the M&A lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Experience: Significant leadership experience supporting healthcare mergers, acquisitions, integrations, consolidations, or large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
- Epic Expertise: Deep understanding of Epic implementation, integration, consolidation, migration, and optimization strategies within complex healthcare environments.
- M&A Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare M&A strategy, integration planning, governance, Day 1 readiness, target-state planning, and post-merger integration.
- Enterprise Perspective: Broad familiarity with ERP, HR and workforce, revenue cycle, data and analytics, infrastructure, cybersecurity, change management, and other enterprise integration domains.
- Executive Advisory: Demonstrated experience advising healthcare executives and facilitating complex decisions across clinical, operational, financial, and technical stakeholders.
- Methodology Development: Experience developing integration methodologies, governance models, playbooks, roadmaps, tools, and repeatable approaches.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Growth & Solutioning: Experience shaping consulting engagements, supporting strategic pursuits, and expanding advisory capabilities.
- Certifications: Previous Epic certification(s) strongly preferred.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
- Fully remote role.
- Up to 50% travel as needed for client meetings, executive strategy sessions, discovery, and project leadership.
