Job summary

UFG is seeking an Executive Surety Underwriter to join our team. The role focuses on building and maintaining a profitable mix of new and existing surety business by forging strong agency relationships and evaluating risks within underwriting parameters.

Remote opportunity with preference for candidates residing in North Carolina or South Carolina. Significant travel to visit agencies and contractors is required to support growth and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or surety field.
• 7+ years of professional experience or completed surety training.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Certified in, or working towards, AFSB designation.
• Willing to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex submissions independently within the approved authority.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents/brokers.
• Coach, mentor, and train team members to grow capabilities.
• Review accounts and bid requests exceeding individual authority levels.
• Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes.
