Job summary

Water Grill in Santa Monica is seeking an Executive Sous Chef to lead kitchen operations, coach line cooks, and protect food quality. You will partner with the Executive Chef as a core member of the management team, ensuring performance, standards, and hospitality excellence.

You’ll be trained in financial acumen and QA, with opportunities to grow into higher leadership. The role emphasizes standards, integrity, and guest satisfaction as essential outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• 3 years experience as sous chef/kitchen manager.
• High school graduate.
• Formal culinary training preferred.
• Able to communicate in English with Guests and staff.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques and menu items.

Responsibilities

• Complete opening and closing duties as assigned to set up the day for success.
• Create prep lists for all kitchen crew.
• Support the preparation of all food items for meal period and next service.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Alert Chef to any deficiencies of food items or maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Develop kitchen crew for cross training and promotion.
• Participate and lead roll out programs to the menu, seasonal items, and recipe changes.
• Support corrective action plans for kitchen.
• Participate in interviews and selection of new kitchen crew.
• Interact with Guests - table visits, complaints, special requests.
• Participates all kitchen crew meeting.
