Job summary

Water Grill in Southern California has sated the palates of seafood lovers for over 25 years. The Sous Chef will be the leader of the kitchen, partnering with the Executive Chef and guiding line cooks to uphold our high standards and hospitality.

You will manage ordering, diagnose variances, train staff, lead menu rollouts, and protect product quality while supporting the restaurant's financial health as a key member of the management team.

Qualifications

• 21+ years of age.
• 2 years experience as cook supervisor/sous/kitchen manager.
• High school graduate.
• Any formal culinary training.
• Ability to analyze and participate in financial planning.
• Ability to communicate verbal and written English with Guests, management and co-workers.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of all cooking techniques required to prepare menu items.
• Knowledge of all menu items, preparation methods, ingredients and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Create prep lists for all kitchen staff.
• Support preparation of all menu items for each service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of station.
• Alert Chef to deficiencies or safety hazards.
• Develop kitchen crew for cross training and promotion.
• Lead menu rollouts and recipe changes.
• Support corrective action plans for kitchen.
• Participate in interviews and selection of kitchen staff.
• Interact with guests during table visits and handle requests.
• Participate in kitchen crew meetings.
