Job summary

XPO, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety to lead enterprise safety vision, strategy and programs across our transportation operations.

You will drive frontline leadership, regulatory compliance, and a data-driven safety culture with a focus on continuous improvement and risk reduction. You will oversee driver and fleet safety, DOT/FMCSA compliance, OSHA programs, and the adoption of safety technologies.

Qualifications

• 10 years of progressively responsible transportation safety and regulatory experience, including leadership in LTL, truckload, logistics or large motor vehicle operations
• Bachelor's degree in safety, transportation, business, engineering, risk management, or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Extensive knowledge of FMCSRs, CSA, DOT compliance, OSHA, hazmat regs, accident investigation, driver qualification, and commercial vehicle safety practices

Responsibilities

• Safety Strategy & Leadership: establish enterprise safety vision, strategy, policies, and performance objectives; build accountability for safety across the organization
• Driver & Fleet Safety: lead programs to reduce crashes and unsafe driving; oversee driver qualifications, training and coaching
• DOT/FMCSA & CSA Compliance: maintain compliance with FMCSA regs; oversee CSA-related programs and regulatory response strategies
• Employee Safety & OSHA: develop strategies to reduce injuries across service centers and facilities; oversee OSHA compliance and injury prevention initiatives
• Safety Technology & Innovation: roadmap for safety tech such as cameras, AI monitoring, telematics and predictive analytics
• Hazardous Materials & Environmental Compliance: oversee hazardous materials shipping, training, documentation, spill response and environmental reporting
• Accident & Incident Management: ensure investigations with root cause analysis and systemic improvements
• Risk, Claims & Litigation Support: collaborate with Legal, Claims, Risk Management and insurers to reduce exposure
• Analytics & Performance Management: establish safety scorecards and use data to identify high-risk drivers/locations
• Regulatory & Industry Leadership: maintain relationships with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA and industry groups
• Organizational Leadership: develop regional/corporate safety teams and leaders
• Physical Security: oversee security systems and strategy
• Cross-Functional Relationships: partner with Operations, Fleet, HR, Legal, Risk, Security and executives
• Thought Leadership: drive safety as part of operational excellence
