The role leads safety programs across driver, fleet, and operations, translating data into actionable safety priorities and organizational improvements.

The role requires extensive FMCSA/CSA/OSHA knowledge, 10+ years of leadership in transportation safety, and a strong business acumen to drive safety with operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10 years of progressively responsible transportation safety and regulatory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in safety, transportation, business, engineering, risk management, or related discipline, or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of FMCSRs, CSA, DOT compliance, OSHA requirements, hazmat, accident investigation, driver qualification, and CV safety practices

Responsibilities

• Safety Strategy & Leadership: establish enterprise safety vision, policies, and objectives with frontline focus.
• Driver & Fleet Safety: reduce crashes and unsafe driving; oversee qualifications, training, coaching, actions.
• DOT/FMCSA & CSA Compliance: ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and CSA-related programs.
• Employee Safety & OSHA: reduce injuries across centers; oversee OSHA compliance and injury prevention.
• Safety Technology & Innovation: roadmap for cameras, AI monitoring, collision systems, telematics, analytics.
• Hazardous Materials & Environmental Compliance: oversight of hazmat, documentation, spill response.
• Accident & Incident Management: investigate major events; implement root-cause actions.
• Analytics & Performance Management: safety scorecards and KPI-driven interventions.
• Regulatory & Industry Leadership: maintain relations with FMCSA, OSHA, state agencies; monitor developments.
• Organizational Leadership: develop safety leaders and cross-functional partners.
• Cross-Functional Relationships: collaborate with Ops, HR, Legal, Risk, Security, execs.
• Thought Leadership: promote safety as part of operational excellence.
