Job summary

SMBC is seeking an Associate to join the Office of the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Business Management team in Charlotte, NC, to support risk governance and executive reporting. The role requires distilling complex risk information into clear, concise insights, developing executive materials, and coordinating inputs across risk verticals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of risk management experience in a large U.S. bank or financial services environment.
• Experience developing executive presentations, reports, dashboards, and briefing materials for senior management, governance committees, or regulatory audiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear, concise messaging.
• Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and MS Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, dashboarding, or other reporting and visualization tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop executive-level risk materials that distill and visualize complex risk issues for senior leadership and regulatory audiences.
• Translate data and risk content into clear narratives, highlighting key messages, implications, decisions, and next steps.
• Support CRO reporting, governance routines, and committee materials to improve risk communications.
• Coordinate inputs across risk verticals and ensure timely completion of high-quality materials.
