Job summary

Designed Conveyor Systems seeks a Project Director to lead large-scale Material Handling Systems and Controls projects from contract award to final acceptance. You will own performance across scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and customer outcomes, serving as the primary executive for both the customer and the DCS team.

The role provides strategic direction across Engineering, Procurement, Site Operations, Testing, and Controls to ensure successful project outcomes and execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 18+ years delivering complex automation or large-scale capital projects.
• Experience leading projects valued at $50M–$100M+.
• Strong financial, commercial, contract, and risk management experience.
• Proven ability to lead executive-level customer relationships and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel 20–40% based on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, high-complexity distribution center automation implementations (greenfield/brownfield).
• Serve as executive owner from concept through go-live and final acceptance.
• Own project performance across scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
• Establish execution strategies aligning customer expectations with DCS objectives.
• Maintain accountability for successful delivery and contractual commitments.
• Drive accountability across all project stakeholders and functional teams.
• Build and maintain executive-level customer relationships and key decisions.
• Lead executive reviews, steering committees and critical escalations.
