Job summary

Riverside Community College District currently seeks a Chief of Police (Safety and Police) to lead the District-wide police operations and ensure public safety across RCCD campuses.

The role requires a law enforcement background with extensive supervisory experience, strong budget skills, and knowledge of California POST standards. The successful candidate will guide policy, training, and interagency collaboration.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public or business administration, or related field, with 10 years of law enforcement experience.
• Five or seven years of supervisory/administrative experience at lieutenant level or sergeant level equivalent; master’s preferred.
• Possession of California POST basic/ supervis and related certifications; driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs the Police Department operations to meet laws and district policies.
• Coordinates with district and college administration and external agencies on safety and policing matters.
• Manages department budget, annual reports, and compliance with POST and other regulatory requirements.
• Directs investigations, training, staffing, and performance evaluations.
• Ensures department adheres to district strategic goals and emergency preparedness.
