Job summary

AbbVie is recruiting an Executive Medical Director for Oncology Early Development in New Jersey. This role leads multiple clinical development programs, guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring data quality across safety and efficacy analyses.

A strong clinical background with leadership and regulatory insight is essential. The position emphasizes strategy, collaboration with Medical Affairs, and external partnerships, with a focus on delivering high-impact oncology programs.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or non-US equivalent with relevant specialty; residency completion preferred.
• Minimum 5 years (7 preferred) of clinical trial experience in pharma, academia, or equivalent.
• Experience with immune redirecting therapies such as T-cell engagers desirable.
• Ability to run a complex clinical research program independently.
• Proven leadership and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and execution of multiple clinical development programs in line with the product plan.
• Oversee study teams, monitor study integrity, and report safety/efficacy data.
• Own protocol content, brochures, reports, and regulatory submissions.
• May supervise Medical/Scientific Directors on related programs.
• Contribute to Clinical Strategy Teams and cross-functional Clinical Development Plans.
• Act as in-house clinical expert coordinating with stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
• Stay current with professional info; represent AbbVie at external meetings.
• Ensure compliance with GCP and pharmacovigilance standards.
