Job summary

Loretto Hospital in Chicago is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer to oversee daily hospital operations and all clinical departments with a focus on patient care services. The CNO provides leadership, governance, and strategic direction to ensure quality care, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship across the organization.

Reporting to the CEO, the CNO collaborates with executives to develop mission-aligned programs, drive performance improvement, manage budgets, and build a talented

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing leadership or equivalent.
• Eight to ten years of hospital operations experience.
• Prior Chief Nursing Officer or Director level leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates with CEO and leadership teams to shape mission, vision and values; ensure high-quality patient-focused care.
• Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance with survey bodies.
• Oversees budget planning, staffing and capital needs; monitors financial performance.
• Leads process improvement initiatives and drives performance measurement across departments.
• Represents the organization in community outreach and external collaborations.
• Supports staff development, recruitment, retention and leadership succession planning.
• Keeps abreast of healthcare trends and compliance requirements through ongoing education.
