Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Recruiter to lead global executive searches and partner with senior leaders to shape our leadership team. You will deliver a premium candidate experience, driving culture and growth through strategic talent decisions.

You will collaborate with hiring managers and HR to design role requirements, assess leadership potential, and maintain a data-driven, inclusive search process across functions in a remote, national US setting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in recruiting in a global company or executive search/retained search environment.
• Deep understanding of leadership assessment, business context, and organizational structure.
• Proven ability to influence, guide, and advise senior leaders through critical hiring decisions.
• Strong interviewing, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills; proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, ATS platforms, and AI-enhanced recruiting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle searches across key functions including Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, Engineering and Customer Operations.
• Partner with C-level, senior executives, and stakeholders to define role requirements, success criteria, and hiring strategy.
• Deliver a white-glove candidate experience from first conversation through close.
• Conduct in-depth interviews to assess leadership capability, scope readiness, and alignment with Avalara's business and culture.
• Drive inclusive, data-informed search strategies that bring diversity, excellence, and insight to every leadership slate.
• Create polished, insight-driven candidate summaries and present recommendations to stakeholders.
• Communicate progress with clarity and confidence—provide ongoing market insights, recommendations, and search updates.
• Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline outreach, scheduling, and documentation while maintaining a personalized touch.
