Job summary

The City of Oxnard seeks an Assistant Public Works Director – Water Utilities to lead Water, Recycled Water, Wastewater and Stormwater divisions for 43,000+ customers. The role oversees 158 FTEs across divisions and a $147M operating budget, reporting to the Director of Public Works.

Preferred candidates hold a PE or SWRCB certifications with four years of management experience; a Master’s degree is desirable. Salary up to $235,529 with CalPERS retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with significant management experience.
• Four years of progressive management and supervisory experience in Public Works and water/wastewater operations leadership.
• Professional certifications or PE/SWRCB licenses as specified.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and oversee Water, Recycled Water, Wastewater and Stormwater divisions.
• Lead a divisional staff of 158 FTEs across multiple divisions.
• Manage operating budget of $147 million and ensure safe, cost-efficient service.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
