Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum CA team seeks a senior leader to manage contract negotiations with physicians, pharmacies, and ancillary providers. You will guide a team, design negotiation strategies, and ensure contracts align with templates, reimbursement standards, and compliance requirements.

This role requires deep healthcare payer knowledge, strong communication with internal partners, and ability to travel to SoCal offices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of solid contract negotiation experience in a managed care/healthcare setting.
• Experience managing managers or senior staff in a matrixed environment.
• Deep knowledge of provider reimbursement types and contract structures.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to and be accountable for the performance of managers and senior staff within the Optum CA service area.
• Lead the detailed design of the Contract Negotiations Lane as part of the organization redesign of the Network Contracting department.
• Develop strategies and plans to support regional market goals and priorities.
• Balance financial and operational considerations in contract terms and provider negotiations.
