Job summary

Town of Hanover seeks an experienced Director of Planning, Zoning & Codes to lead the Planning and Zoning Department and shape the community’s future. The role guides planning, zoning, development, and code enforcement, ensuring quality and safety in construction and redevelopment.

The Director will provide professional guidance to Town leadership and boards, oversee budgeting, and supervise a team of planning professionals, building inspectors, and support staff.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree, preferably in a field related to the occupational area.
• At least five years of related experience, including supervisory experience.
• A valid New Hampshire driver’s license.
• Knowledge of planning and zoning theories, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Knowledge of Town zoning ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Planning and Zoning Department’s activities and operations.
• Develop long-range, comprehensive, and capital improvement plans.
• Draft and revise planning and zoning regulations and policies.
• Coordinate department activities with other Town departments and outside agencies.
• Provide technical guidance to Town leadership, boards, and the public.
