Job summary

Virginia Military Institute seeks a Deputy Superintendent for Finance and Support to serve as the chief financial and administrative officer. Qualifications

  • Academic credentials in a relevant field of business, finance, public administration, or higher education.
  • A distinguished record of financial stewardship, budgeting, and strategic planning for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Understanding of challenges in undergraduate public higher education in Virginia and the US.
  • Experience with government agencies, legislative bodies, or external partners to advance institutional priorities.
  • Experience leading and managing multifaceted and decentralized organizations.
  • Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Understanding and commitment to VMI mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Directs financial accounting and reporting, budget preparation and administration, and capital outlay oversight.
  • Oversees operation and maintenance of facilities, procurement, and auxiliary services.
  • Plans and directs capital outlay projects and Post Facilities Master Plan development.
  • Represents Institute in relations with SCHEV, CSSBO, and VHEPC and coordinates with leadership.
