Job summary

City and County of San Francisco seeks a Deputy Director for MOHCD to provide executive leadership across multifamily housing, preservation, housing finance and homeownership programs. You will shape strategic direction, oversee policy development, and advance innovative financing to expand affordable housing citywide.

The Deputy Director supervises 38 staff in the Homeownership and Multifamily Rental Housing Division and works with the Director and senior leaders to align program operations

Qualifications

• Proven senior leadership in housing policy and program management.
• Experience directing multifamily housing, financing, and homeownership initiatives.
• Ability to coordinate with city agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead MOHCD as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and oversee executive priorities and organizational management.
• Provide executive leadership for multifamily housing production, acquisition, preservation, housing finance, and homeownership programs.
• Establish strategic direction and organizational priorities for the Division.
• Supervise Director-level managers responsible for major housing program operations.
• Coordinate multifamily budget reviews and funding allocations to support affordable housing.
• Develop and implement policies and funding strategies to expand housing opportunities.
• Oversee review and approval processes for funding recommendations and ensure timely approvals.
• Liaise with other City offices and agencies to advance housing planning and programs.
• Foster partnerships with City departments, lenders, developers, and community organizations.
• Champion equity, innovation, and continuous improvement across programs.
