The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff seeks an Inspector General (Administrative Specialist 3G) to lead complex oversight and strategic planning within the Executive Administration Division. Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Law Enforcement Administration, Criminal Justice, or JD, or a closely related field.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental activities advising senior law enforcement leadership on issues related to accountability, adherence to best practices, policies, procedures, operations and program management
• Experience above must have included at least three (3) years in a related supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and preparation of reports, data, policy, procedures, etc. for assigned units.
• Carry out administrative operations of the functional area including research, proposal and implementation of projects.
• Supervise managers and provide training, counseling and direction to employees.
• Participate in the budget and procurement processes for the Agency, providing assessments of current projects and initiatives.
• Originate complex reports and correspondence for signature of the Sheriff and other senior executive management staff.
• Supervises Program and Course Design/Class Preparation.
• Prepare or obtain all materials, equipment, handouts, visual aids and schedule classroom or other appropriate space for class presentation.
• Research various legal questions, opinions, etc., as necessary to ensure agency conformance with federal, state and local laws.
• Counsel the Sheriff and necessary staff on various complex legal questions that may arise.
• Maintains positive intra/inter-governmental and public relations.
• Willingly and cooperatively perform tasks and duties within the general occupational category and responsibility level.
