Job summary

Baltimore County Office of the Inspector General is hiring a Deputy Inspector General to provide strategic, operational, investigative, and administrative leadership. The role involves managing sensitive investigations, setting priorities, and ensuring high-quality reporting and compliance.

The Deputy will guide staff, engage with county agencies, and maintain independence while supporting the Inspector General.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with strong investigative/oversight background.
• 10 years in government oversight, investigations, auditing, or related field.
• At least 4 years managing complex investigations.
• Experience supervising professional staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as second-in-command and act on behalf of the Inspector General when authorized.
• Lead complex investigations into fraud, waste, abuse and misconduct.
• Oversee interviews, financial analyses, data analytics, and evidence collection.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and other oversight partners.
• Prepare reports and present findings to leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage case priorities, workload, and documentation standards.
