Job summary

Redcrest Hospice House is seeking a Director of Nursing Hospice (DON) to lead clinical assessment and care planning, supervise staff, and ensure regulatory compliance across the organization. The DON will coordinate clinical disciplines and back up to the Executive Director as needed.

The role requires RN licensure, hospice experience, and strong leadership to drive quality, cost-effective care and staff development at our Bloomington location.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Minimum of one year supervisory or administrative experience in hospice or related health programs.
• Hospice background for multiple sites preferred.
• Knowledge of guidelines governing hospice agencies.
• Ability to manage financial reports and direct cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the overall clinical process for quality patient care from admission to discharge.
• Directly supervises clinical staff and internal support teams.
• Interacts with patients, families, physicians via phone, email or in person regarding patient care.
• Organizes and allocates clinical staff to meet program objectives.
• Ensures documentation and charting comply with agency, Medicare, and state guidelines.
• Supports intake, referral, and admission processes as needed.
• Leads policy implementation and quality improvement programs in the field.
• Monitors patient trends and outcomes and oversees QAPI initiatives.
• Maintains professional growth and ensures staff training and development.
• Performs audits, reports and analyses related to hospice operations.
