Job summary

Activ8 Recruitment & Solutions seeks a General Manager of Engineering for a Northville, MI automotive parts manufacturer. The role leads operations, engineering, quality, materials and safety to drive profit growth and plant performance.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s in a related field and 10+ years of leadership in automotive manufacturing, with preference for remanufacturing transmission components and a strong lean/IATF 16949 background. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business or related field.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in automotive manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience in remanufacturing of transmission components (preferred).
• Strong background in lean manufacturing and IATF 16949 quality assurance.
• Experience overseeing budgets and capital expenditure to justify costs.
• Experience working on a plant floor and handling customer interactions.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a cross-functional organization including operations, engineering, quality, materials and safety.
• Drive site performance as it relates to profit and loss and growth.
• Maintain a continuous improvement and lean manufacturing environment.
• Maintain partnerships with commercial, technical and logistics teams throughout North America.
• Oversee hiring, developing and retaining facility personnel.
