Job summary

Lever, Inc. seeks a General Counsel to lead its legal function from the Bay Area, reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board. The role will build and manage a six‑person team and guide strategic initiatives across governance, financing, IP, and partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have substantial tech‑sector leadership experience, hands‑on deal‑making ability, and a collaborative leadership style. Hybrid schedule with Bay Area offices is available.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. state bar membership.
• Substantial leadership experience in technology businesses, preferably semiconductors or computing.
• Startup or fast-moving environment experience with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Experience advising executives and Boards on governance and significant business decisions.
• Strong track record leading complex negotiations and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the CEO's senior legal advisor and partner with the CFO on strategy and execution.
• Lead and develop the legal function; mentor team and build capabilities for growth.
• Advise the Board on governance, fiduciary matters, and processes for a complex business.
• Lead venture capital and other financing transactions coordinating investors and outside counsel.
• Negotiate strategic partnerships and sophisticated commercial agreements.
• Support data center and infrastructure development including project agreements.
• Advise on business structuring and commercialization across IP and corporate matters.
• Oversee government contracting, security obligations, and compliance.
• Build policies, playbooks, and legal technology to improve responsiveness.
• Manage outside counsel and legal spend while building internal capacity.
