Job summary

Etched is seeking a Head of Legal / General Counsel to build and scale its legal function as the company grows. You will lead the existing team, hire top talent, and implement processes, automation, and standards to accelerate decision-making.

The role combines hands-on negotiations with strategic oversight, including IPO preparation and governance for a public company, in a fully in-person setting in San Jose and Taipei.

Qualifications

• Experience advising high-growth technology companies, in-house or at a leading law firm.
• Proven ability to hire, grow and lead a high-performing legal team.
• Deep expertise in commercial negotiations, corporate governance, and financings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale the legal team with clear ownership and performance expectations.
• Standardize legal practices across the company, with templates and escalation paths.
• Manage SLAs for contract reviews and outside counsel spend.
• Automate repeatable legal work with AI thoughtfully, with human review.
• Lead IPO preparation in partnership with Finance and outside counsel.
• Oversee complex negotiations across customer, supplier, and IP agreements.
• Advise executives on financings, governance and strategic risk.
• Oversee employment, IP, regulatory compliance, and disputes globally.
