Job summary

The State of Minnesota’s Court of Administrative Hearings seeks a General Counsel 2 to lead the Office of General Counsel, guiding the court’s legal work across workers’ compensation, administrative law, rulemaking, and related areas. You will supervise a team of in-house attorneys and advise the Executive Team on strategic legal matters.

The role requires a J.D., Minnesota bar license, and at least several years of managerial or senior legal experience.

Qualifications

• Education requirements: J.D. from ABA-accredited law school; license to practice law in Minnesota.
• Experience requirements: managerial or advanced supervisory experience; or significant legal research/writing background.
• Preferred: knowledge of data practices, ethics, employment, and civil/administrative litigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level advice and litigation management for the court.
• Serve as the Ethics Officer for the court.
• Oversee Data Practices Compliance Official or act as liaison to Legislature and Governor’s Office.
• Advise on court policies, procedures, and data practices requests.
• Guide development and review of proposed legislation and administrative rules.
